GELLÉRT-HEGY
Itee I, Villányi út 12 1 279 1133; map . Charming, just below street level teahouse with
lots of jaunty seating areas either side of the main lounge, whose main feature is a miniature
goldfish pond. Although tea is very much the speciality here - over eighty types kept fresh in
bright red tins - there are lots of other beverages to mull over. Mon-Fri 1-11pm, Sat & Sun
3-11pm.
Tranzit Art Café XI, Bukarest utca 3 1 209 3070, tranzitcafe.com ; map . Friendly
alternative café in the fabulous Bauhaus-style ex-bus station behind Kosztolányi Dezső tér.
It's a very relaxed space where you can lounge around on sofas, with a children's play area
in one corner. They have salsa evenings and film screenings outside in summer. You can get
a lunch menu for 1,200Ft, and they serve toasted sandwiches and burgers throughout the day.
Mon-Fri 9am-11pm, Sat-Sun 10am-11pm.

dren too, as it has its own play area, and handy if you've been on the riverbank enjoying the
bars and restaurants on the Római-part or want to head further out from Aquincum. Daily
May-Sept 9am-10pm, Oct-April 9am-7.30pm.
Daubner III Szépvölgyi út 50 1 335 2253 daubnercukraszda.hu ; map . It is a trek to
get to this patisserie in Óbuda, but the place is always crowded, especially at weekends,
when people will patiently queue up for its delicious cakes, such as the plum slipper ( szilvás
papucs ) or pumpkin-seed scone ( tökmagos pogácsa ). The Daubner familyhave sold the busi-
ness, but the quality should hold. Mon-Sat 9am-7pm.
