serves scrumptious oven-crisped pizzas ($7-11) and salads ($6-8) and is a popular spot for
afternoon coffee and cake. Tues-Sun 8.30am-10pm.
Casablanca Plaza Bolívar at C 4 212 0040; map . A delightful outdoor setting (with a/c
inside if you prefer) plays host to well-prepared, wide-ranging dishes from burgers, kebabs
and salads ($9-15) to more substantial seafood, meat or poultry mains. Kick-start dinner with
a mojito before trying ribs in passion fruit sauce. The atmosphere is great though the quality
can vary when it's really busy. Daily noon until late.

scene offering a changing menu of high-quality gourmet seafood served in plastic bowls out
of a trailer truck for around $10-12. Enjoy the food in an open-air courtyard, accompanied

dulgence after tramping the streets of Casco Viejo, this French-style artisanal ice-cream par-
lour offers flavours you wouldn't dream of - basil, lavender, Earl Grey tea - as well as
chocolate every which way and an array of mouthwatering sorbets, though at a price. Daily
noon-8.30pm.
René Café Plaza Catedral at C 7 262 3487; map . Provided a 4WD isn't parked out
front, the outdoor tables provide a splendid vantage point for admiring the cathedral while sa-
vouring a good-value three-course set-menu lunch ($10) washed down with a glass of wine.
The five- to seven-course tapas-style dinner is a pricier $25 and better enjoyed in the intimate
