Grotte de Lascaux
Europe's oldest prehistoric paintings are hidden deep in the limestone caves of the
Vézère Valley. None are more breathtaking than those inside the Grotte de Lascaux
( Click here ), which is decorated with the most sophisticated cave art ever dis-
covered, including a mural of a bull measuring over 5.5m. The original cave is
closed to avoid damage to the paintings, but key sections have been re-created in
another cave nearby.
