Connect the Thermocouple Wire
Your next step is to connect the thick thermocouple wire to the Extruder Controller. Although the wire is
a bit long, you can choose to leave the extra bit of wire looped and secured with a tie. But if you wish to
shorten the wire to reduce wire clutter, you can cut the wire and re-do the ends with some shrink tubing.
Just be careful when doing this; the outer sheath is more of a cloth-like coating that will fray and make a
mess. The two wires inside are colored red and yellow, and you need to be careful to keep the colors
separate and identifiable. Use red shrink tubing and yellow shrink tubing if possible to keep the two
wires color coded and clean.
Because the thermocouple wire is a bit heavy, you'll want to secure it so it won't move as the Z- and
Y-axis assemblies move during a printing process. To do this, simply use a plastic tie to secure part of the
thermocouple wire to one of the bolts behind the Z-axis motor mount, as shown in Figure 17-12.
