Next, you'll need to obtain a 1/2” spacer. This spacer will be used to ensure that the two brackets are
perfectly parallel when bolted to Part H. We used a metal spacer that is precision cut for this kind of task,
but as long as you can find an object that has a consistent thickness of ½”, you should be fine. Insert the
spacer between the first and second Strong-Tie brackets, as shown in Figure 7-7.
