MARKET
MERCAT DE LA BARCELONETA
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 93 221 64 71; www.mercatdelabarceloneta.com ; Plaça de la Font 1;
7am-3pm Mon-Thu & Sat, 7am-8pm Fri; Barceloneta)
Set in a modern glass and steel building fronting a long plaza in the heart of Barceloneta,
this airy market has the usual array of fresh veg and seafood stalls, as well as several places
where you can enjoy a sit-down meal. El Guindilla deserves special mention for its good-
value lunch specials and outdoor seating on the plaza.
MARKET
ELS ENCANTS VELLS
(Fira de Bellcaire; MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 93 246 30 30; www.encantsbcn.com ; Plaça de les Glòries
Catalanes; 8am-8pm Mon, Wed, Fri & Sat; Glòries)
In a gleaming open-sided complex near Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes, the 'Old Charms'
flea market is the biggest of its kind in Barcelona. Over 500 vendors ply their wares beneath
massive mirror-like panels. It's all here, from antique furniture through to secondhand
clothes. A lot of it is junk, but occasionally you'll stumble across a ganga (bargain).
The most interesting time to be here is from 8am to 9.30am on Monday, Wednesday and
Friday, when the public auctions take place.
