USA Today is the one national newspaper that can be found throughout the region, and the
Wall Street Journal is also popular. If you want a national newspaper like the New York
Times or the Washington Post, many towns still have smaller newspaper and magazine
stores, but you may get a copy that is a few days old at best. Large grocery stores
typically have regional dailies. In Montana, the larger dailies are the Missoulian, the Great
Falls Tribune, and the Billings Gazette, although every small town seems to have at
least a weekly newspaper, which can be a great source of information on local events
and attractions. Other Montana publications to look out for include the Lively Times
( www.livelytimes.com ) , a monthly statewide guide to entertainment, and Montana
Magazine, a good roundup of life in Montana. The Montana Quarterly and Big Sky Journ-
al are excellent literary reads and feature well-written articles about the Treasure State and
the Greater Yellowstone area.
In Wyoming, the larger daily newspapers include the Casper Star-Tribune (the only
statewide newspaper), the Wyoming Tribune Eagle in Cheyenne, and the Laramie Boom-
erang. Other popular papers include the weekly Jackson Hole News & Guide and Wor-
land's Northern Wyoming Daily News.
One of best sources of local and national news is National Public Radio, which can
be heard in even the smallest of towns in both states. Montana Public Radio covers
western Montana ( www.mtpr.org ) , while Yellowstone Public Radio ( www.ypr.org ) covers
the
rest
of
the
state
as
well
as
northern
Wyoming.
Wyoming
Public
Radio
( www.wyomingpublicradio.net ) also covers much of the state.
