Activity in Wyoming is largely based around the 91-mile-long Flaming Gorge Reser-
voir, constructed in 1964 and a popular destination for water-skiing, fishing, camping, and
boating. Its trout-filled waters make it an attractive year-round fishing spot; licenses may
be bought in Wyoming or Utah. There are also campgrounds nearby (43 campgrounds with
more than 700 sites in the entire recreation area), and many boat launches around the reser-
voir.
If approaching the reservoir from Highway 530 south of Green River, the road follows
the west side of the lake just a few miles from the shore. There are various dirt-road turnoffs
