gas barbecue grills and a briquette for guests who want to cook out.
For an unforgettable wilderness B&B experience just out of town, M Sunburst Lodge
(2700 Micro Rd., 307/235-9086, www.sunburst-lodge.com , $135-165) is located on Casper
Mountain next to Hogadon Ski Area and just 20 minutes from town. There is much ex-
ploring to be done year-round just outside the lodge along with cozy accommodations and
sumptuous meals inside. You can also sleep in a wonderful yurt ($150).
CAMPING
The closest public camping in the vicinity of Casper is 10 miles south of town on Casper
Mountain, a breezy, forested all-season playground for locals. There are four campgrounds
on the mountain; Beartrap Meadow (Casper Mountain Rd., 307/235-9311, $10) is the
only one with water and is also the nicest of the four. Various campsites maintained by the
Bureau of Land Management (307/261-7500, www.wy.blm.gov , $5) include the Rim and
Lodgepole Campgrounds, which can be accessed from gravel roads off Casper Mountain
Road.
For a scenic lakeside campground 28 miles west of Casper on County Road 407, off
Highway 220, Alcova Lake Campground (307/235-9311, www.natronacounty-wy.gov ,
$35 full hookups, $10 unserviced) is a beautiful spot; unserviced sites are first-come, first-
served, and sites with hookups are by reservation only.
There are also a few private campgrounds and RV parks right in town. Set along a beau-
tiful bend in the North Platte River, the Fort Caspar Campground (4205 Fort Caspar Rd.,
307/234-3260 or 888/243-7709, www.ftcasparcamp.org , $24-41) offers tent and RV sites, a
lodge, ponds, and several walking trails; they also provide free Wi-Fi.

Casper is a breakfast lover's town: There are a number of great places to start the day
