ACCOMMODATIONS
Geared as it is toward the flocks of visitors headed to Yellowstone, Cody has an abundance
of accommodations, many of them newer. Among the best deals in town is the basic but ap-
pealing and independently owned A Wyoming Inn (720 Yellowstone Ave., 307/587-4208,
www.hotelcody.com , May-Oct., $70-134). Among the chain hotels in town are AmericInn
(508 Yellowstone Ave., 307/587-7716, $119-289), Comfort Inn (1601 Sheridan Ave.,
307/587-5556, www.comfortinn.com , $114-189), Holiday Inn (1701 Sheridan Ave., 800/
315-2621, www.holidayinn.com , $89-161), and the very upscale Best Western Premier
Ivy Inn & Suites (1800 8th St., 307/587-2572, www.bestwesternwyoming.com , $111-240).
For significantly more charm, the M Chamberlin Inn (1032 12th St., 307/587-0202 or
888/587-0202, www.chamberlininn.com , $185-345) is a stately complex built in 1904 and
beautifully restored in 2007. There are 21 individual rooms, including several suites, all of
which are unique. Ernest Hemingway spent the night in one of them in 1932—his signature
is still in the guest register.
Buffalo Bill's beloved Irma Hotel (1192 Sheridan Ave., 307/587-4221 or 800/
745-4762, $68-197) is another classic in Cody. Showing a few more signs of wear than the
Chamberlin, but with its own marvelous history and central location, the Irma is an import-
ant landmark and central to this community.
Another unique option is the Mayor's Inn (1413 Rumsey Ave., 307/587-0887,
www.mayorsinn.com , $90-215), a bed-and-breakfast in a turn-of-the-20th-century home
known as Cody's first mansion. Inquire about their scrumptious set-menu dinners.
Just outside Yellowstone's east entrance, Pahaska Tepee Resort (183 North Fork Hwy.,
307/527-7701 or 800/628-7791, www.pahaska.com , $80-200) is another of Buffalo Bill's
historic lodges. The complex is vast, with the old 1904 lodge, newer housekeeping cabins,
and deluxe modern condos and a seven-bedroom family reunion lodge, but so are the recre-
