Pathways” brochure and map of nonmotorized trails in the region.
Fishing and Rafting
The Shoshone River runs right through the heart of Cody, offering both white-water
rafting opportunities and plenty of excellent fishing. Among the rafting companies in
town that offer everything from two-hour white-water floats to half-day scenic tours
and weeklong trips are River Runners (1491 Sheridan Ave., 800/535-7238,

There is an abundance of prime fishing waters within an easy drive from Cody, including
the Shoshone River, the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River, and hundreds of lakes.
For fishing gear or advice on local hatches and water conditions, head to Tim Wade's
North Fork Anglers (1107 Sheridan Ave., 307/527-7274, www.northforkanglers.com ,
7:30am-9pm Mon.-Sat. and 7:30am-7pm Sun. Memorial Day-Sept., 8:30am-5:30pm Mon.-
Sat. and 8:30am-5pm Sun. Oct.-Memorial Day). In addition to all the gear, they offer
guided wading trips or float trips. Hours here can change according to the weather, so call
first.
Mountain Biking
If you are looking to do some exploring on bikes, Absaroka Bikes (2201 17th St., 307/
527-5566, 10am-6pm Mon.-Thurs., 10am-4pm Fri., 10am-2pm Sat. Memorial Day-Labor

offers bike rentals, guided bike tours, and maps of bike trails around the area.
Horseback Riding
Head out one mile past the rodeo grounds on the left to Cedar Mountain Trail Rides (12
Spirit Mountain Rd., 307/527-4966, $35 for 1 hour, $50 for 2 hours), where you will be at-
tended by knowledgeable and friendly guides who are especially good with beginners. The
trails wind up Cedar Mountain and provide great views of the town below. If you are inter-
ested in a full-day ride, they take the horses and riders by trailer 35 minutes north to Elk's
Fork; lunch is provided.
