Anglers have hundreds of lakes to choose from in the area near Pinedale.
Among the favorites in the area is the easily accessible Elkhart Park Trail, the only
one accessed by a paved road, just 15 miles northeast of Pinedale. The heavily hiked trail
departs from the Trails End Campground at 9,100 feet in elevation. Great day hikes will
lead you into the Wind River Mountains and places like Photographer's Point and Miller
Lake. A staffed Forest Service visitors center at the Elkhart Park trailhead can provide in-
formation about trails and trail conditions.
Another excellent series of trails is in the Green River Lakes, 52 miles north of
Pinedale (31 paved miles and 21 miles of good gravel). The Hiline Trail, among others,
