In-Depth Information
Also in Teton Village, a longtime favorite is the Mangy Moose Restaurant and Saloon
(3295 Village Dr., 307/733-4913, www.mangymoose.com , 5:30pm-close daily summer and
ski season, $13-32). The menu is packed with upscale pub fare including a bison burger
with truffle fries, prime rib, baby back ribs and grilled rainbow trout. The saloon is open
daily at 11am in the summer and ski season.
Right on the Town Square is one of Jackson's most celebrated eating establishments,
the Snake River Grill (84 E. Broadway, 307/733-0557, www.snakerivergrill.com , from
5:30pm daily summer, from 6pm daily winter, $21-46). A visual feast in addition to being a
gastronomical delight, the Snake River Grill has largely defined Jackson Hole cuisine with
offerings like cast-iron roasted elk chop, lamp chop “Lollipops” and wild game Korean hot
bowl. The menu is diverse, constantly changing, and completely mouthwatering. It's worth
noting that although children are welcome in the restaurant, there are no high chairs or chil-
dren's menus available.
Another elegant option for an unforgettable meal is at the Rusty Parrot's Wild Sage (175
N. Jackson St., 307/733-2000, www.rustyparrot.com , hours vary, $32-54). With only eight
tables, the service is as notable as the food. From Wagyu tenderloin to dry-aged buffalo rib
eye, Wild Sage has made quite a name for itself in the Intermountain West culinary scene.
Reservations are strongly recommended.
INFORMATION AND SERVICES
The most comprehensive spot to get information on the area is the Jackson Hole and
Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center (532 N. Cache St., no phone, 8am-7pm daily Me-
morial Day-Sept. 30, 9am-5pm daily Oct. 1-Memorial Day), which has representatives
from the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce (307/733-3316), the National Park Service,
the Bridger-Teton National Forest, and four other agencies all under the same sod roof.
Not wanting to forgo the unofficial community center that is the post office in small
Western towns, Jackson residents balked years ago when the postal service tried to imple-
ment home delivery service. There are two main post offices in Jackson: the old one (220
W. Pearl St., 307/739-1740, 7:30am-5pm Mon.-Fri.) and the new one (1070 Maple Way,
307/733-3650, 8:30am-5pm Mon.-Fri., 10am-1pm Sat.).
The impressive Teton County Library (307/733-2164, www.tclib.org , 10am-8pm
Mon.-Thurs., 10am-6pm Fri., 1pm-5pm Sun.) is located at 125 Virginian Lane and has In-
ternet service. Many of the lodges and resorts around Jackson provide Wi-Fi to their guests,
and Internet service is also available in town at a variety of places.
