This is bar-food country and an excellent place for hamburger and chicken-fried steak lov-
ers. Some of the fun is finding the best piece of pie, the juiciest burger, or the strongest
coffee. Don't expect gourmet fare, but you can expect big portions and good, simple food.
Pie lovers would do well to stop in Terry at the very red and white Dizzy Diner (316
E. Spring St., 406/635-4666, 8am-8pm Mon.-Sat., 8am-2pm Sun., $5-8), which has a pretty
complete menu including wraps, burgers, and pizzas. But the pie's the thing, and the straw-
berry rhubarb may make you weep. This little joint is clean and nicely air-conditioned when
you want it to be.
For a full menu around the clock, Glendive's historic Jordan Inn Family Restaurant
(222 N. Kendrick Ave., 406/377-3333 or 406/377-5555) has two restaurants, including
CaféJordan (6am-9pm daily, $4-13), which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has a
coffee shop. Dinner in their fine-dining Blue Room (5pm-9pm Tues.-Sat., $13-38) is espe-
cially good and features steaks, prime rib, and seafood pastas. Another good family restaur-
ant that's usually open in Glendive, within walking distance from the Makoshika Dinosaur
Museum, is CC's Family Café (1902 N. Merrill Ave., 406/377-8926, 6am-10pm summer,
6am-9pm winter. They feature home cooking, daily specials, breakfast all day, and yep,
really good pie.

The Glendive Chamber of Commerce (808 N. Merrill Ave., 406/377-5601,
www.glendivechamber.com , 9am-5pm Mon.-Fri.) is an excellent resource for everything
from guided excursions to daily fishing reports. One of the things that makes this chamber
unique is that it offers to clean the paddlefish of any angler willing to donate the fish roe,
which the chamber then processes into world-class caviar.
The Glendive Medical Center (406/345-3306 or 800/226-7623) is located at 202 Pro-
spect Drive.
GETTING THERE
Glendive is located off I-94 and at the southernmost point of Highway 16, west of the North
Dakota border 35 miles from Beach. Glendive is served by Jefferson Lines (800/451-5333,
www.jeffersonlines.com ) , which offers daily service to Sidney.
