In-Depth Information
A number of buses on the Te Anau-Milford Sound run will drop off or pick up trampers at
Marian Corner, or even at Gunn's Camp, but the latter still leaves you about 10km short of
the start of the track.
Some operators do service the Hollyford Rd end, including Tracknet ( 0800 483 262;
www.tracknet.net ) , which runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on demand (two hours). Trips
& Tramps ( 03 249 7081; www.tripsandtramps.com ) also runs to the Hollyford Rd end via
Milford Sound, and organises return-trip plane and bus transport packages between Te
Anau, Milford Sound and the Hollyford Track.
Many trampers will avoid backtracking all or a portion of the track by either flying or
catching the jetboat. Fly Fiordland ( 0800 359 346; www.flyfiordland.com ) flies between
Martins Bay and Milford Sound for $160 per person (minimum two people).
Hollyford Track ( 03-442 3000, 0800 832 226; www.hollyfordtrack.com ) also runs a jetboat
along Lake McKerrow, between Martins Bay to the Pyke confluence near McKerrow Island
Hut ($110). This saves a day and eliminates walking the Demon Trail, by far the most ardu-
ous portion of the track. This service must be booked in advance.
