At the end of SH67, 100km north of Westport, sweet little Karamea is the closest town to
the western ends of the Heaphy and Wangapeka Tracks.

Karamea School, this place offers simple camping over the bank from the river. There are
bunks in the old-fashioned but tidy communal building with laundry. Non-staying visitors
can also use the showers by paying $3 to the on-site caretaker.
