TOP OF CHAPTER
Murupara
07 / POP 1900
Murupara is to the west of Te Urewera National Park, on SH38 62km southeast of Rotorua
and 93km from the park visitor centre. However, if you're heading into the park from the
west, you'd be wise to stock up on your essentials before you hit Murupara, the last sizeable
(ahem!) stop before you enter the park. Murupara offers food, lodging and other services,
but choices are few. There is no information centre other than the DOC office, and no place
to purchase tramping equipment.
