In-Depth Information
The
Contrails
effect adds planes to the sky and also the trail they leave behind.
This is the kind of effect that needs to be added with balance in mind, unless we
are working on an airport scene.
To see the trails with good quality, press and hold the
U
key.
Moving to the
Weather
tab, we can find another effect called Foliage wind. By
default, there is wind inside Lumion's world and we can see this effect by adding a
tree and looking closely at the leaves. The default value of
0.1
works perfectly and
there isn't a need to change this except when working on a particular project.
A special touch with falling leaves
From the name of this topic, it is easy to guess what we are covering next. Falling
leaves is something we don't have in either of the
Photo
or
Movie
modes, and for
this, we need to get back to the
Build
mode. In the
Build
mode, open the
Objects
menu and click on the
Effects
button, as shown in the following screenshot:
Inside the
Effects Library
, select the fifth tab, where we can find three options of
leaves. Like a 3D model, we need to select and place one of these options in the scene
and immediately, we can see some happy leaves moving inside an imaginary box. This
is nothing special, until we open
Falling leaves Properties
and start tweaking not only
the color, but specially the
Wind X
and
Wind Z
options. These two settings are crucial
to add some life to the leaves and make them behave like they would in the real world.
Let's stay in the
Build
mode and see something further that is unique in Lumion.
