In-Depth Information
The fact that Google Chrome synchronizes your bookmarks across all your devices that run
Chrome means you can bookmark a web page anywhere and it will show up on your phone
or tablet. Bookmarks are broken down into three folders:
Desktop Bookmarks
This shows the bookmarks on the Bookmark bar of Chrome if it's installed on a computer.
Other Bookmarks
This folder contains the rest of your desktop bookmarks, which are located in “Other Book-
marks” on your computer.
Mobile Bookmarks
This shows the bookmarks you've created on your Android phone and tablets.
Menu
The Chrome menu lets you open a new tab, open an incognito tab, go directly to your
bookmarks, view your other Android devices, view and clear your browsing history, search
within the current web page, and access Chrome settings and help.
Incognito Browsing
A feature of Chrome on the desktop as well as the Android app, Incognito Browsing lets
you browse web pages without a record appearing in your browser or search history. Cook-
ies downloaded to your device will be deleted when you exit all incognito tabs. Down-
loaded files and bookmarks you create while browsing incognito will be saved.
Incognito browsing is useful when shopping on line for presents, for example, and you
don't want other family members to discover where you've been shopping.
As Chrome warns you, incognito browsing doesn't affect the behavior of other servers,
computers, or people. In particular, if you log into your Google account while browsing
incognito, your web history will be saved by Google in order to sync it to your other com-
puters and Chrome devices.
