up in the Carousel and under All Items- but not under Books.
Library Books
You can borrow books from most public libraries using Overdrive, an app that comes with
Android. Chances are your local library will let you borrow books with Overdrive. You'll
need a library card and an online account on your library's website to borrow books.
To get started, open Overdrive, then tap the Overdrive menu icon at the upper left corner
to open the menu. Then tap Add a library. You can either search for or browse libraries.
Once you've located your local library, add it to Your Libraries by tapping the star next to
the name.
Next, tap the Menu icon again and tap Bookshelf. Tap Add a Book. Tap Sign In at the upper
right corner of the screen and enter your login and password for the library. Using the icons
at the top of the library screen, you can browse by genre, check your Overdrive library ac-
count, get help, and search for books.
Once you find a book, tap on it to open the detail page. This page includes the book de-
scription, the loan period, the formats and number of copies available, and recommended
books. To borrow the book, tap the Borrow button. You'll be given a choice of book formats
to download. Choose EPUB to read in Overdrive, or Kindle to read in the Kindle App.
Assuming that you choose EPUB, you'll be asked to sign in with your Adobe ID, or will
be asked to create one. After this one-time step is complete, the book will appear in your
Bookshelf, which you can access from the main Overdrive menu.
Tap on a title to open it. Books open to the last page read. Tap the center of the screen to
show the reading controls, which are similar to Play Books and the Kindle app.
To return a title, go to Bookshelf and long-press the title. Then tap Return. From this pop-
up menu, you can also share the book via email, Facebook, Goodreads, and any other shar-
ing app on your device.
