FIGURE 3.4 Initial structure and movement of water molecules: (a) Schematic of the
initial structure and transport of water molecules in a model CNT. (b) The radial density
profile (RDP) of water molecules inside CNTs with different radii. (c) The representative
radial velocity profile (RVP) of water molecules inside a (60,60) nanotube.
It should be noted that the available area for molecules of the liquid is less than
the area bounded by a solid wall, primarily due to the van der Waals interactions.
3.3 THE EFFECTIVE VISCOSITY OF THE LIQUID IN A NANOTUBE
There is a significant increase in the effective viscosity of the fluid in the nano
volumes compared to its macroscopic value. However, the effective viscosity of
the liquid in a nanotube depends on the diameter of the nanotube.
