CASTLE WITH A VIEW: On the roofline to right the artist shows two trumpeters flanking two regal
figures with crowns and sceptres; perhaps symbolic of Edward III and his wife Philippa, who spent
much time at the castle in the 14th century. The lion was presumably a statue.
