Museo di San Marco
MUSEUM
Comprising the
Chiesa di San Marco
and adjoining 15th-century Dominican
monastery
,
this is Florence's most spiritually uplifting museum. It showcases the work of Fra' An-
gelico (c 1395-1455), a Tuscan friar and painter who decorated the cells with deeply de-
votional frescoes to guide the meditation of his fellow friars. His most famous work,
An-
nunciation
(c 1440), is found at the top of the stairs.

MAUSOLEUM

most haunting sculptures:
Dawn and Dusk

Urbino;
Night and Day
on the sarcophagus of Lorenzo's son Giuliano; and
Madonna and
Child
on Lorenzo's tomb.
