along arterial streets. These times can be reduced by providing bus lanes, pro-
hibiting right turns, and timing traf
c signals for buses. For example, a bus route
operating at 10 mph would save up to 1.0 min per mile with a bus lane, with a
commonly used saving of 0.5 min per mile.
