The castle
Daily 8.30am-3pm • €2
The imposing ramparts of the Byzantine castle of Mólyvos, later repaired by Genoan
Francesco Gattelusi, are visible from many kilometres around. Sections can now be
accessed from the inside, affording splendid views of the harbour and beyond. Entrance is
via the impressive main gate, through which a set of steps leads up to the largely open
interior, where a wooden amphitheatre is used for occasional summer performances.

The Komninaki Kralli mansion
Daily 9am-3pm • Free
he Komninaki Kralli mansion , high up in the town, is worth the climb; the lower floor
houses a well-signposted “School of Fine Arts”, and the wall- and ceiling-murals on the
upper storey (dated 1833) compare with those of the Vareltzídena mansion in Pétra
(see p.648). Panels in the smallest room portray dervish musicians and women dancing
to shawm and drum, while other murals depict stylized versions of Constantinople and
Mytilíni Town.
