Surfers and body boarders can head a quarter-mile from the highway parking lot to Short
Sand Beach , which offers good waves. Rent bicycles (or kites) from Manzanita Bikes &

per hour $9) . There are kayaking opportunities just 4 miles south in Wheeler.

pleasant inn is right on the main street. There are 14 cozy rooms, all with fireplace, bal-
cony and jetted tub. The larger suites are best for families and come with kitchenette;
there's also a large three-bedroom penthouse apartment ($385). Two-night minimum in
summer.
Sunset Surf Motel MOTEL$$$

rooms are large, with kitchenettes and ocean views. Room 27 has one of the best views.
