In-Depth Information
(832 Water St; mains $6-8) A dimly lit, romantic, yet unpretentiously hip upstairs bar with a
balcony overlooking the port. This is the perfect spot to have a burger and a beer and
wait for your ship.
Entertainment
Rose Theatre CINEMA
(235 Taylor St) A Northwest diamond and an architectural emblem for the city, this gor-
geously renovated movie theater lay woefully abandoned for 37 years before being
brought back to life in the 1990s as an art cinema. If only there were more like it.
Shopping
Downtown Water St has all kinds of independent shops housed in handsome Victorian
buildings. Look out for Native American crafts, art galleries, antiques, books, gifts, hand-
made jewelry and clothing and outdoor apparel.
April Fool & Penny Too ANTIQUES
(725 Water St; 11am-6pm) One of the best of Water St's bric-a-brac antiques, jewelry
and gift shops. It's housed in a feel-good heritage house.
Quimper Sound & the Analog Lounge MUSIC
(230 Taylor St; 10am-5pm Mon-Thu, 10am-6pm Fri & Sat, 11am-5pm Sun) To continue the
time-warp effect of Port Townsend, peruse this record store that's remained pretty much
the same since it opened in 1974 - save the installation of its on-site cafe.
