aesthetic rightly: they're owned and decorated by the fellows at local gallery Inde/Jacobs.

Marfa's historic hotel has a unique claim to fame: it's where the cast of the movie Giant
stayed. Some of the rooms could stand a little updating, but the place does have a digni-
fied charm, along with a snazzy indoor pool and a touch of taxidermy for good measure.

Cibolo Creek Ranch

get away from it all, this luxurious private ranch is definitely away . Marfa is the closest
town, but it's still a 45-minute drive (part of the reason the ranch offers a meal plan for an
additional $75 a day). They even have a private airstrip, and, if for some reason you don't
have your own plane, arrangements can be made.
Eating & Drinking
Restaurant schedules tend to be fickle around here, so call ahead if you want to double-
check hours, or be prepared to be flexible.
Food Shark
(105 S Highland Ave; meals $5-8; noon-3pm Thu-Sat) See that battered old food trailer pulled up
under the open-air pavilion where the weekend farmers market is? If you do, that means
Food Shark is open for business. If you're lucky enough to catch them, you'll find incred-
ibly fresh food like pulled-pork tacos and their specialty, the Marfalafel. Daily specials are
excellent, and sell out early.
