Rodeo season starts in big and small towns across the state. Cool, not cold, weather in
Big Bend means it's a great time to hike.

attracts about 2.5 million visitors. Tour the animal shows, shop for Western gear, see the
cowboys rope and ride - then watch a different top-name singer perform nightly (think Ge-
orge Strait or Beyoncé).

For 12 days every February Galveston does its best New
Orleans imitation, hosting two dozen parades, even more concerts and five masked balls.
Events are admittedly a bit tamer here, the first Sunday is usually coined 'Family Gras'.
