ger than Rhode Island? Out in way-far-west Texas, the Chisos Mountains (7825ft) provide
an excellent place to take a hike. But then so, too, does the Chihuahuan Desert or the Rio
Grande Valley. Having three distinct ecosystems in one vast and remote parkland provides
something for everyone. But plan ahead - the mountaintop lodge has limited accommoda-
tions, and campgrounds fill up quickly in spring and fall.
