) Locally owned and ecofriendly, this quiet place is tucked away just north
of downtown, away from the hustle and bustle. The furnishings may be slightly past their
prime, but practical travelers will get a lot for their money here.
The property feels like an apartment complex, both inside and out, which means plenty
of room to make yourself at home. You won't go hungry, either: rates include a hot break-
fast and hospitality hour, and all suites have full kitchens. Traveling with the family?
Spread out in a two-bedroom suite.

( 512-476-5678; www.collegehouses.org ; r per person $25) During the summer when (most of) the
students have gone home, the empty rooms in the seven student coop houses are quite the
bargain, and they keep you centrally located near the UT campus. The planning window is
short, however: you have to give them 48 hours' notice, and they don't take reservations
more than a week in advance.
