Activities
Winter Sports
Downhill skiers flock here for the 170km of groomed slopes that are mostly intermediate
and focused on
Hahnenkamm- Pengelstein
, while off-piste enthusiasts find plenty of back-
country powder to play with at high elevations.
Kitzbüheler Horn
is much loved by begin-
ners for its gentle cruising on sunny slopes. Confident intermediates up for a challenge
can tackle the incredibly scenic 35km
Ski Safari
, linking the Hahnenkamm to Resterhöhe/
Pass Thurn. The alpine tour is marked by elephant signs and is a good introduction to the
entire ski area.
The mind-bogglingly sheer, breathtakingly fast
Streif
downhill course lures hard-core
skiers to Kitzbühel - even experts feel their hearts do somersaults on the Mausefalle, a
notoriously steep section with an 85% gradient.
Snowpark Hanglalm
is rider heaven with its
rails, kickers and obstacles.
The tourist office website,
www.kitzbuehel.com
, has up-to-date lift and slope reports,
as well as the low-down on non-ski-focused activities like winter hiking, ice skating and
sledding.
