and able to venture out of the centre.
Gasthof Bauer

this homely Pension sits on a little island in the Steyr River. The rooms are simple but
comfy, and there's a leafy garden and a restaurant serving fresh, local fare (lunch menus
€7). It's a 1km walk northwest of Stadtplatz.

Hotel Christkindlwirt

grimage church in Christkindl to this boutique newcomer. Many of the contemporary,
warm-coloured rooms have balconies with river views. Candles create a restful feel in the
grotto-like spa, which has a sauna, steam room and treatments such as shiatsu massage.

toric hotel. This 400-year-old townhouse has loads of original features, from period fur-
