SPA & SWIMMING IN FRAUENKIRCHEN
In Frauenkirchen, 8km southeast from Podersdorf, you can take the cure at modern St Martins Therme &
Lodge ( 02172-20 500; www.stmartins.at ; Im Seewinkel 1, Frauenkirchen; d per person €155-195;
), a spa resort (day tickets adult/child €22.50/9.40; 9am-10pm) fed by hot springs. The area around the
spa has been landscaped, and it's possible for day or overnight guests of the spa and hotel to swim outdoors in
the lake fed by mineral springs.
Book ahead at the hotel for free pick-up from Frauenkirchen train station if arriving by rail or bus, but St
Martins can also be easily reached by bike on a detour from the main bike path (there's a Nextbike ( Click here )
station at the spa and others at the train station and the basilica in Frauenkirchen).
Sleeping
Book ahead for July and August. Seestrasse, the street leading from the tourist office to
the lake, has many small places to stay.

has welcoming staff, a tranquil, homey atmosphere and spartanly clean rooms with up-

this popular camping ground is one of the largest around and has plenty of shade from the
sweltering heat.

Hotel-Restaurant Pannonia

waterfront, this smartly renovated hotel has a New World feel, 21st-century furnishings
and a large grassy area where children can go bananas. The owners run a second hotel
across the road with family rooms. The restaurant has a wine list the size of a short novel
and seasonal dishes such as venison carpaccio served on wild-garlic pesto with tomatoes.
