Aspen
Big Wrap
SANDWICHES
$
(520 E Durant Ave, Suite 101; wraps $6.95; 10am-6pm Mon-Sat; )
One of Aspen's most beloved
spots for a quick, cheap meal, the Big Wrap's creative and vaguely healthy concoctions
have won over legions of fans. In addition to Thai-, Mexican- and Greek-inspired wraps,
there are tacos, salads and smoothies. It's located downstairs from the main sidewalk on
Hunter St, despite the Durant St address. Cash only and no seating.
Butchers Block
( 970-925-7554; 424 S Spring St; sandwiches from $9; 8am-6pm)
The depth and breadth of the
gourmet spirit of this ski-town deli is striking. Here you'll find gouda, stilton and goat
cheese, wild salmon and sashimi-grade ahi, caviar and gourmet olive oil, maple-glazed
walnuts, dried mango, good deli sandwiches, and terrific roast chicken and salads. It's
open until 6pm, but stops making sandwiches at 5pm.

520 Grill
( 970-925-9788; 520 E Cooper Ave; sandwiches & salads $8-11; 11am-9pm Tue-Sun; )
A (mostly)
healthy (kinda) fast-food grill, if there is such a thing. Sandwiches are creative, spicy con-
coctions. The achiote chicken is grilled and piled on the pita with roasted red peppers,
avocado and cheese. The Veg Head is an alchemy of roasted portobello mushrooms and
garlic, with a pepper medley dressed in balsamic.
It also serves a good-looking, much-loved kale and quinoa salad, along with sweet
potato fries and New Belgium beers.

Justice Snow's
( 970-429-8192;

;
328 E Hyman Ave; mains $10-22; 11am-2am; )
Located in
the historic Wheeler Opera House, Justice Snow's is a retro-fitted old saloon that marries
antique wooden furnishings with a deft modern touch. Although nominally a bar - the
speakeasy cocktails are the soul of the place - the affordable and locally sourced menu
($10 gourmet burger! in Aspen!) is what keeps the locals coming back.
