The center of family fun throughout the year is Adventure Ridge, at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola. Obvi-

2pm (ages 10 and up). If you don't plan on skiing, you can buy a
scenic lift ticket

think ropes course, zip lines and climbing wall, as well as mellower activities like pony rides and disc and mini
golf. Expect to pay $10 to $20 per activity. You can also explore the mountain trails on foot (free) or mountain
bike (lift ticket including bike haul adult/child $31/10).
It's all slated to expand into the much larger eco-park
Epic Discovery

) in 2015, with
everything from nature programs to a larger zip-line network and adrenaline-pumping forest coaster.
Access to Adventure Ridge is in Lionshead, but if you plan on hiking or biking in the summer, Gondola One
(Vail Village) is also open and included in the lift ticket. The mountain is only open on weekends in September.

Valet is one of two independently owned bike shops in Lionshead. Rent cruisers, kids'
bikes and mountain bikes and sign up for a shuttle up to Vail Pass ($39, bike included) or
the offroad Shrine Pass to Red Cliff trip ($75, bike included). In winter it's

This Colorado chain has stores at most resorts as well as major cities
throughout the state. It rents and sells skis, boards and bikes, along with outdoor clothing
and gear. Quality varies with the price.
