Figure 2-5. Elements can open multipage PDFs. To open just one page of the file, double-click the
page's thumbnail. To open multiple pages, Ctrl-click/ -click the ones you want or Shift-click to se-
lect a range, and then double-click to open them. You can catalog PDF files in the Organizer, too.
To do that, go to File→“Get Photos and Videos”→“From Files and Folders” and, in the drop-
down menu in the bottom part of the window (on a Mac it's labeled “Enable”), choose PDF Files,
and then navigate to the PDF you want to import.
Scanning Photos
Scanning is a little different in Elements 13 than it was in previous versions. You can prob-
ably still scan into Elements, but if you have a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or 8, you need to
use WIA, Windows' built-in scanning system. If you have a 32-bit version of Windows 7 or
8 instead, you can still use the older TWAIN option for scanning. (To figure out which ver-
sion you're using, go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218 and scroll down to the
“Automatic version detection results” section, which tells you whether you have the 32- or
