1. In Expert mode, open a photo, and then activate the Smart Brush .
Click the tool's icon in the Tools panel (it's in the Enhance section: the wide house-
painter's brush just below the Red Eye Removal tool) or press F. Check the Tool Op-
tions area to be sure you're using the regular Smart Brush. It shares its Tools panel
slot with the Detail Smart Brush, which works like the Selection Brush in that it
changes only the area directly under the cursor instead of automatically expanding
your selection to include the whole object you brush over. For now, see if the regular
Smart Brush is smart enough to select the area you want.
2. Choose the adjustment you want to apply .
In the Tool Options area, click the thumbnail to the right of the brush icons. Then
choose a category from the Presets drop-down menu and find an adjustment you like.
(Both smart brushes have the same Tool Options settings, discussed on Correcting
Color with a Brush . The important one is explained in Figure 7-3 .)
