Hong Kong International Airport
The Airport Express ( www.mtr.com.hk ) is the fastest and most expensive way to get to and
from HKIA. It departs daily every 10 to 12 minutes, 6am to 1am, for Hong Kong station
($100, 24 minutes) in Central, calling at Kowloon station ($90) in Jordan and at Tsing Yi
Island ($60) en route.
An Octopus card ( Click here ) or Airport Express Travel Pass allows three days of unlim-
ited travel on the MTR and Light Rail and one/two trips on the Airport Express ($220/
$300).
If you are taking the Airport Express to the airport, most airlines allow you to check in
your bags and receive your boarding pass from one day to 90 minutes before your flight at
Hong Kong or Kowloon Airport Express stations (
5.30am-12.30am) .
Major hotel and guesthouse areas on Hong Kong Island are served by Air Buses (every 10
to 30 minutes from 6am to midnight). For Central, Sheung Wan, Admiralty, Wan Chai and
Causeway Bay take Air Bus A11 ($40); for the south take the A10 ($48); for Tsim Sha
Tsui, Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok take the A21 ($33).
Night buses are designated 'N'. Buy your ticket at the booth near the airport bus stand.
Sample taxi fares from the airport: Central, Sheung Wan, Admiralty, Wan Chai and
Causeway Bay: $300; the south $320 to $350; Tsim Sha Tsui, Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok:
$230.
Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau
If you cross the border from Shenzhen via the Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau border gates, take
the MTR East Rail line after passing through customs. You can change to destinations in
Kowloon at Kowloon Tong station and to destinations in Hong Kong Island at Tsim Sha
Tsui station.
