Kamikaze Caves
Before entering Sok Kwu Wan, you'll pass three 'kamikaze caves': grottoes measur-
ing 10m wide and 30m deep and built by the occupying Japanese forces to house mo-
torboats wired with explosives to disrupt Allied shipping during WWII. They were
never used.
Sok Kwu Wan
At idyllic Sok Kwu Wan (Picnic Bay, but literally 'strings and fishnets bay'), there's
Lamma Fisherfolk's Village (lammafisherfolks.com.hk; adult/child $60/$50; 10am-7pm Mon-
Fri) , a floating museum and theme park that showcases Hong Kong's fishing culture,
and a renovated Tin Hau temple , c 1826.
Lamcombe Seafood Restaurant
Hike back to Yung Shue Wan for dinner. Lamcombe ( 2982 0881; 47 Main St, Yung Shue
Wan; meals from $150; lunch & dinner) has been serving up tasty fried squid and steamed
scallops for over 10 years. Portions are big and service is decent.
Island Society Bar
Need one for the road? This bar (6 Main St, Yung Shue Wan; 5pm-late Mon-Fri, noon-late Sat &
Sun) is the closest one to the ferry pier and the oldest watering hole on Lamma. Long-
term expats come here for the low-down on everything. It's also the home of the
feisty Lamma ladies' dragon-boat team.
