The most up-
market place on Cocal Beach has elegantly furnished bungalows with big doors opening
onto a hammock-strewn beach with plenty of coconut palms. The downside: the rooms
are fairly close together, detracting from any castaway fantasies. Even if you don't stay,
make sure to eat at the restaurant, which prepares outstanding gourmet meals (US$9 to
US$16).
Casa Iguana

; s/d cabañas US$30/35, casitas US$60-85)
This gathering of colorful
wooden
cabañas
(smaller, with shared bathrooms) and
casitas
(larger, with private bath-
rooms) arranged on a rocky cliff just above the beach is hugely popular. The location and
views are tremendous and the restaurant serves first-class fare; however, the reliance on
an endless stream of young expat workers doesn't give the place much local flavor.

Rose's
(meals US$4-8.50; 6:30am-9:30pm)
This humble
comedor
on the trail to town has veget-
arian pastas and coconut curries, as well as other dishes you won't find elsewhere.
Drinking & Nightlife
Tranquilo Cafe
( 8am-late; )
Feeling homesick? Head to this hip open-air cafe for great burgers, buf-
falo wings and bruschetta with an indie-rock soundtrack. It's popular among travelers for
an evening drink and hosts bonfire parties.
CAFE
BAR
Aguila's
( 11am-1am)
Little Corn Island's most popular after-hours hangout. The sweaty pool
hall is a hotbed of hustling and competition, and the music thumps in the open-air dance-
hall just above the beach.
