a good balance between price and amenities. Rooms are not particularly inspiring but are
well maintained, with air-con and hot water, and there is a great balcony with rockers
overlooking the street - perfect for getting to know some of Bluefields' colorful charac-
ters.

Casa Rosa

in the breezy Loma Fresca neighborhood, this Nica-American sportfishing resort is a five-
minute taxi ride from the commercial heart of town but looks and feels a million miles
away. Most guests come to fish, but the clean and comfortable wooden rooms with air-
con, wi-fi, cable TV and a river serenade would work for anyone.

large hotel has rooms and suites with tasteful paint jobs and all the modern conveniences.
Make sure to get one with a window. The rooftop deck offers sensational bay and city

long as you avoid the dark rooms downstairs. Up top there are ample modern rooms, some
with bay views, boasting bright tiled floors, big comfortable beds and powerful air-con.
The service is courteous and professional, and there is a free pickup service from the air-
port.
Eating
Bluefield's favourite snack is the paty - a savory spiced meat pastry sold for US$0.25 by
