Eating
Mercado
(Parque Central, 1c E, ½c N; meals US$2; 6am-6pm) For supercheap eats, hit the market,
where local mothers bring home cooking to the masses. Come for full chicken meals
(grilled and fried) served with gallo pinto (rice and beans) or refried beans and freshly
made tortillas.
MARKET $
Palo Solo
( 2512-2735; Parque Palo Solo; dishes US$7.50-10.50; noon-10pm) Set on a shady patio
beneath a beamed bamboo roof at the western edge of Parque Palo Solo, this restaurant
serves up tasty Nicaraguan mixed-grill plates. It might have been classy once, but the ci-
garette holes in the tablecloths and bubble-blowing waitresses limit its claim to fine-din-
ing status. Still it's lively, the food is good and the view is fantastic.
