coastal road (figure 1-1.5 hours from Orebi ć ). Where the peninsula meets the mainland,
you'll see the cute little “Great Wall of Croatia” town of Ston. For more on the Pelješac

If you're heading south to Dubrovnik, the coastal road zips you right there (about an
hour from Ston). If you're heading north to Split, soon after joining the coastal road you'll
actually pass through Bosnia-Herzegovina for a few miles (around the town of Neum; for
details, see here ) .
Because of the ferry crossing and the long drive along the Pelješac Peninsula, driving
between Split and Kor č ula is time-consuming and tiring. Instead, I prefer to take the
longercarferrythewholewaybetweenSplitandVelaLuka,atthefarendofKor č ulaIsland
(described earlier; allow 1 hour for the drive from Kor č ula town to Vela Luka, costs about
300 kn per car for ferry ride). The scenic and relaxing 2.75-hour boat ride from Vela Luka
to Split saves you more than that much driving time.

on the mainland (about halfway to Split).
