8:05; 45 minutes to Hvar, 2 hours to Split). A car ferry also travels daily from Vela Luka to
Split—it's slower, but generally departs at a more convenient time and is coordinated with
a bus from Kor č ula (2/day, 3 hours, no stop at Hvar town). Since reaching Vela Luka from
Kor č ula town is a hassle, carefully confirm these boat schedules at the Kor č ula TI or Jad-
rolinija office, and understand all your options before you get up early to make the trip.
To the National Park on Mljet Island: Unfortunately, day-tripping from Kor č ula to
Mljet National Park by public transportation is not possible (see the Near Dubrovnik
chapter); if you'd like to visit Mljet from here, your best bet is to buy a package excursion
(see the options run by Korkyra Info, earlier).

Route Tips for Drivers: Between Korčula and the Mainland
The island of Kor č ula is connected to the mainland by a small car ferry that runs between
Domin č e—about a mile east of Kor č ula town—and Orebi ć , across the channel on the
Pelješac Peninsula (76 kn/car, 16 kn/passenger, 15-minute crossing, departs Domin č e at the
top of most but not all hours—check carefully in Kor č ula, departs Orebi ć at :30 past most
hours).
If you're driving via the mainland, you'll first cross on this car ferry to Orebi ć on the
vineyard-strewn Pelješac Peninsula. The Pelješac Peninsula is extremely long and narrow,
and the roads are very rough, so it can take longer than you'd expect to reach the main
