In addition to aesthetic designs created within Ingress, players have used the
game platform for political and social commentary. After the Boston marathon
bombing, MIT Ingress players from both opposing factions agreed to a temporary
ceasefire on the MIT campus as well as erected a dual owned virtual memorial for
the slain MIT police officer Sean Collier.
