The goal of most golfers may be to drive the ball
as far as it can go, but that task becomes a little
more difficult with the Cayman ball. Designed to
go only half as far as a regular ball, this tricky
orb makes the best use of the small course area on
the island.
At the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman, the Britannia course (Robert
Cummings, Golf Pro, PO Box 1588 GT, Grand Cayman,
345-949-1234,
fax 345-949-8528) was designed by Jack Nicklaus. This links-style course,
with the challenges of its seaside location, includes blind tee shots, pot
bunkers, and two-tiered greens. On the fifth hole, golfers shoot over the
Caribbean waters. This course can be played as a nine-hole championship
course, an 18-hole executive course, or an 18-hole Cayman ball course. The
course is available for regulation play (par 70) on Tuesday, Thursday, Sat-
urday and Sunday afternoons. Players can book times on Monday, Wed-
nesday, Friday and Sunday mornings for executive play (par 57). Rates are
US $60 for nine holes or $100 for 18 holes for regulation play; US $75 for 18
holes, executive play. For advance starting times,

naments are scheduled throughout the year; call for a current list.

a nine-hole Greg Norman-designed private golf course. For an update on
