The City Plaza is a low-slung compound of cottages scattered amid a leafy garden full of
birdsong. Service is professional, rooms are well appointed and cleaned with soldierly
precision and an expansion wing should only add to the goodness. It's located in a quiet
area, about 3km out of town along the road to Erigavo, so while the vibe is mellow, you're
sort of stuck here amid on-site amenities…which, on the plus side, include a kick-butt res-
taurant (mains US$3 to US$5).

( 714499, 712299; s/d US$10/15; ) This multistorey building gets an A+ for its
clean rooms, ultra-central location, good beds and hygienic bathrooms. Another bonus is

the added treat of splendid views over Burao.
Barwaaqo Hotel $
( 715700, 4140427; s/d US$10/15; ) Cheap, well-maintained rooms with itty-bitty
bathrooms. However, most of the singles have only interior windows. Cold water only. It's
close to the centre.
HOTEL
Shamaxle Restaurant $
(mains US$3-6; breakfast, lunch & dinner) The location, in a leafy compound right by
the Todgheer River, is top-notch. And the juicy hanid (roast lamb) will have your taste
