(Gabon St; mains Birr70-100; 11am-3pm & 6-9pm) For both the local Muslim and
Christian communities this busy place is a lunchtime institution - queues can form out the
door for a table. The reason they all flock here? Good, honest Yemeni fare, including
spicy hot salta (a highland stew/soup) and the house special, Yemeni-style chicken and
rice.

mughali biryani (fragrant rice), tandoori dishes or butter chicken masala - absolutely deli-
cious. There are also great lunchtime thalis (mixed meals; Birr80) available every day but

(Cameroon St; kilo of meat Birr145; noon-midnight) Come dinner and lunch, this local
option is alive with action. Tables spill from the restaurant's interior out to a large court-
yard topped by flowering vegetation. Buy a big hunk of meat from the butcher out front
and have it barbequed up and served with spice and injera (or you can just eat it raw) and
wash it all down with a beer or three.

(Cameroon St; burgers Birr55, pizzas Birr65) Supersized burgers are the obvious high-
light of this place, which is a cross between a fast-food joint and a pavement cafe, but piz-
