The
Rotation Segments
option is used to determine the number of subdivisions of cylinder
along its circumference. More the number of subdivisions, smoother will be the cylinder.
4. In the Attribute Manager, choose the
Caps
button; the
Caps
area is displayed. In this
area, make sure the
Caps
check box is selected. Next, enter
36
in the
Segments
spinner.
The
Segments
spinner located below the
Caps
check box is used to determine the number
of subdivisions vertically.
5. In the
Caps
area, select the
Fillet
check box and then set the parameters as follows:

Radius:

6. In the Attribute Manager, choose the
Basic
button; the
Basic Properties
area is dis-
played. In this area, enter
Candle
in the
Name
text box; the cylinder is renamed as
Candle
in the Object Manager.
7. Make sure
Candle
is selected in the Object Manager and choose the
Make Editable
tool
from the Modes Palette; the
Candle
is converted into a polygonal object.
8. Choose the
Polygons
tool from the Modes Palette; the
Candle
is displayed in the poly-
gon mode in the viewport.
9. Press F2; the Top viewport is maximized. Invoke the
Live Selection
tool from the Com-
mand Palette. In the Attribute Manager, make sure the
Options
button is chosen; the
Options
area is displayed. In this area, make sure the
Only Select Visible Elements
check box is selected.
10. Select the polygons in the Top viewport, as shown in Figure 4-2.
11. Press F1; the Perspective viewport is maximized. Make sure the polygons of
Candle
are selected in the Perspective viewport. Next, move the selected polygons of
Candle
downward
,
as shown in Figure 4-3.
